My name is Miss Pells, and I have been teaching at Newtown since 2022. From the moment I joined, I have loved being part of the wonderful Newtown community and helping children grow in confidence, knowledge, and independence.

I believe that children make the greatest progress when they feel safe, supported, and comfortable making mistakes. In my classroom, I encourage children to take risks in their learning, embrace challenges, and understand that mistakes are an important part of success. Learning is about overcoming obstacles, reflecting on our experiences, and adapting our thinking so that we can continue to improve. This encourages the children to be kind, resilient, and curious about the world around them.

One of my favourite parts of teaching is building positive relationships with children and their families and celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small. I wholeheartedly believe that teaching is the best job in the world because I have the privilege of watching children grow, develop, and blossom throughout their educational journey. Seeing a child gain confidence, discover a new passion, or achieve something they once thought was impossible is what makes teaching so rewarding.
