Learning Journey
This half term our learning journey questions are:

-
How do we spread hope in our community?
-
What are the reasons for people migrating to our local area and how has this shaped our school community?
-
How can I create a story where nature brings people together?
-
How do we see and hear?
-
How can I use textiles to create a unique Winter Celebration card?

Reading
This year, year 4 and 5 will be recording their reading through a reading journal. We expect children to read with an adult at least three times a week and record this in their journal with a comment. Children should be bringing their reading book into school, as there are opportunities each day for the children to be reading for pleasure.
Maths
We are starting the year by looking at place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. This will involve the children exploring number, collaborating, reasoning and proving their answers with resources. To begin with, homework will support our focus on times tables. As the year progresses, homework will then be set based on the learning that we have covered in our lessons, to enable the children to demonstrate their understanding as well as cementing the knowledge.

PE Days
Our PE days are every Tuesday and Thursday. We are lucky enough to have Premier joining us, who are taking some of the sessions on Tuesdays. The children are already enjoying these sessions, learning vital skills such as agility, having quick reactions and how to be a good team player. Please ensure that your child comes in with a clearly named PE kit.

Outdoor Learning
Our outdoor learning is on a Friday. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate clothing (water proof coat and wellies in the wetter and colder months, and sun cream and sun hat in the warmer, sunnier months). Our outdoor sessions are a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop skills in team building, communication and problem solving.
Homework
The children are expected to read for at least 10 minutes every day and to complete an activity from the Independent Activity list once a week. They are also expected to practice their times tables (Times Tables Rockstars will support this). Homework books are expected to be handed in every Thursday and will be sent home every Friday.
